  • Symptoms: Sharp, stabbing pain or genreal ache located at the base MP joint / CMC joint and along the backside of the thumb, often with "popping" and/or "clicking" sensations, weakness and loss of motion. The condition can occur gradually due to overuse or suddenly from direct injury or trauma. Thumb motion may be difficult and painful, particularly when pinching or grasping objects.

  • Cause of Symptoms: Repetitive or static flexion of the thumb, overuse, direct trauma and certain inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, can activate the disorder. Both workplace and recreational activities may cause DeQuervain's Syndrome and it affects women eight to 10 times more often than men.

  • Treatment of Symptoms: FLEXTEND® can help increase the length of the restrictive, hypersensitive adductor and flexor tendons of the thumb that have become short from overuse, and increase the strength of the abductor and extensor tendons of the thumb, creating stability within and around the base MP joint. FLEXTEND® can help reduce pain and dysfunction of Dequervain's Syndrome by restoring range of motion, endurance and strength to the affected joint..
