Many
Repetitive Strain Injuries are caused by recreational
or occupational activities requiring repetitive
or static motion involving the upper extremity
(fingers, hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder) against
varying levels of resistance, including awkward
wrist angles, vibration, temperature extremes,
or site-specific stress, and in most cases can
be prevented.
Even
if symptoms have already exhibited themselves,
in most cases, they can be alleviated with the
proper stretch/exercise regimen. When used as
directed, the FLEXTEND® Training Systems lengthen
the short, restrictive, overdeveloped muscles and
fascia that have lost their original range of motion
due to activities that require repetitive and/or
static motion. At the same time, FLEXTEND® strengthens
and conditions the opposing weak, underdeveloped
muscles. By creating a balance
between the muscle and tendon structures in the
hand, arm and shoulder, you can often greatly reduce
or eliminate the compression of
the finger, hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder structures,
allowing the body's natural healing processes to
function.
University and
Private Testing has shown that the FLEXTEND® Training
Systems, which include injury specific stretch
and exercise programs, can help alleviate
the symptoms of pain, numbness
and loss of strength in many individuals suffering
with recreational or occupationally-induced Repetitive
Strain injuries, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
People who already
have even moderate-to-severe symptoms caused by
Repetitive Strain injuries have used FLEXTEND® with
great success. Many users have reported that their
symptoms have been totally eliminated in as little
as 2-3 weeks and used successfully for post-surgery
rehabilitation. (By Individuals, Physical Therapists,
Occupational Therapists, Massage Therapists, general
practitioners and Surgeons.)
FLEXTEND® is the
key to preventing invasive treatments like surgery,
but for those that have surgery, using
FLEXTEND® for post-op therapy allows the user
to return to normal activities in less than half
the time typically associated with carpal tunnel
surgery, trigger finger surgery or other finger,
hand and wrist surgeries. Many individuals that
have suffered from hand/wrist fractures have also
used FLEXTEND® once
they have been removed from a cast to regain strength
and mobility in the affected area.
The FLEXTEND® programs
can help correct biomechanical imbalances throughout
the entire upper extremity, reducing impinged nerves,
blood vessels and other soft tissues in order to
allow the body to heal. By reducing the impingement
of soft tissue structures between the various anatomical
structures inside the finger, wrist, elbow and
shoulder joints, normal vascularity returns, bringing
healing nutrients and oxygen to the damaged structures.
